植色（Shoku-shoku）ワークショップのご案内

今回の染料は「朴」です。

ホオ（朴）は昔、その大きな葉で食べ物を包んだことから「包=ほう」という字が充てられていたとか。
その立派な葉が落ちる時、しずかな山林に『バサ、バッサ』と音が響き渡ります。

今回染色するホオは、高野山からやってきました。
いつか使おうと大事に取っておいたもので、染め色は透き通った、なんとも優しい色になります。

また今回から、稲垣機料さん @inagakikiryo でスタートした機織りワークショップと連携して、織りにつかう緯糸(紬糸)を染めていただけるようになりました。
ホオの色合いは落ち着きがありつつ存在感もあるので、織り入れるとその頼り甲斐を感じていただけると思います！
ぜひ、糸染めから機織りまでお楽しみいただけたら嬉しいです。

9月はまだまだ残暑厳しい時期ですが、草木の色から元気をもらいつつ乗り切っていきましょう！

Magnolia Dye Workshop🌳

In Japan, the large leaves of the magnolia tree were once used to wrap food, which is said to be the origin of its Japanese name.

The leaves we’ll dye with this time were carefully gathered in Koyasan and have been patiently waiting for the right moment. They create a beautifully soft, transparent natural color.

This workshop is now connected with our weaving workshops at Inagaki Kiryo, so you can also dye Tsumugi silk weft yarn to use in your own weaving. Magnolia’s gentle, earthy tones blend beautifully into woven textiles while adding a quiet presence.

September is still warm, but let’s enjoy the calming colors of nature and welcome the changing season together.
